What is SEO?
SEO is the process of optimising your website to help it rank higher in the search engines. This "search engine optimisation" is done by a number of factors and split into two main components, on-page optimisation and off-page optimisation.
On-page optimisation refers to things specifically on your website. These include your title tags, description, headings, and actual content. On-page optimisation tells Google what you're website is about.
Off-page optimisation refers to other web pages pointing to your site. These include from articles, blogs, business directories, social networking pages and of course other standard websites. Off-page optimisation tells Google how important your website is.
So how do you get your website to be considered important? The 'backlinks' from other websites are seen as a vote for your website. The more backlinks you have, the better. But to really succeed, you want backlinks from trusted websites that have a similar theme or topic to yours.
